In Case of Fire Create a Fire Escape Plan:
Plan must be known to all people resident in your home. Make sure everyone knows where the outside meeting place is during a fire. Plan an alternate exit from all rooms in case the fire is between you and your planned exit. Never go back inside the house until the firefighters say you can.
Smoke Detectors:
Have a smoke detector on every level of your home (Carbon Monoxide detector also, if burn fossil fuels). Check the battery in the spring and fall, when clocks are changed.
Children’s Bedrooms/Sleep Areas:
Mark windows with Fire Decals where young children sleep, for firefighters to see. Also indicate if pets live in the house (not applicable to goldfish).
Fire Hazards:
Ensure your home is fire safe in accordance with local ordinances. Store all flammable materials correctly. Use electrical appliances and extension cords correctly.
